Half/Dozen is pleased to present Backdrop by Paula Rebsom. This installation investigates man’s efforts to control the forces of nature through the formal relationship between painting and sculpture.

This work explores the fragility of our built environment and how outside forces threaten to destroy the foundations we have built upon. The installation combines sculptural elements of natural objects with a large-scale painted backdrop of a built environment. This backdrop provides both a setting for something to occur, while also suggesting that something disastrous has already happened. This repeating narrative echoes our endless struggle with nature.
