Portland, OR – Half/Dozen Gallery is pleased to present Fliperama Rhapsody by Artur Silva. This exhibition transforms the space into a faux arcade full of blinking lights, functional and non-functional arcade machines, a video installation and fog billowing from unseen corners.

Fliperama Rhapsody is the title of the video and installation created for this exhibit. The video is a collaboration between Artur Silva and Mariana Malanconi. Through the installation of the same name, Silva satirizes the concept of recreating an experience purely for the nostalgic effect. The dilettante enthusiasm with the sensorial experience becomes a marquee to the artist’s early psychological and capitalistic experiences with entertainment.

This installation is not simply an attempt to recreate an arcade at a gallery. Classic video arcades had street hustlers, prostitutes and all sorts of crazy activities, smells and other visuals. Fliperama Rhapsody attempts to create a dialogue between the artist now and the artist at age 12, while at the same time poking fun of nostalgia as it relates to consumption.

Half/Dozen is located in the Everett Station Galleries at 625 NW Everett St, #111, Portland, OR 97209.
