Half/Dozen received a warm welcome onto Everett Street this past ‘First Thursday.’ Art Club’s wildly successful opening reception went off without a glitch. Crowds of people poured in and out the door over a period of a few hours. Upbeat and lighthearted, the atmosphere was completely energizing. People lingered over wine while savoring the diverse collection of work. At times it was so crowded that you were only able to see the work by hugging the perimeter of the room. Unfortunately none of the artists were able to be there to experience the excitement surrounding their work, but it is certainly safe to say that each piece piqued curiosity and received generous attention by the people of Portland. It was a happy opening opening and a well-recieved first ‘First Thursday’ (perhaps that’s too redundant?). The general mood was jovial and left us very excited for what’s to come.
